About Dr. Amaranth Solepure

Sharanu Sharanathi,

I am Dr. Amarnath Solepure, and I have dedicated my life to the pursuit of knowledge, teaching, and service in the field of Physiology and medical education. After a long and fulfilling career, I chose teaching as my lifelong profession—one that has brought me immense joy and purpose. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching MBBS, MD, and PhD students at several Government Medical Colleges in Maharashtra and other states across India.

In the course of my career, I have held several key academic and administrative positions. I have served as the Dean of Government Medical Colleges in Aurangabad, Latur, Nanded, and Pune. I have also worked as Registrar and Acting Vice Chancellor, contributing to the academic governance and policy-making at the highest level. At the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik, I have served as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, member of the Academic Council, and Senate member, helping shape the future of medical education in the state.

On the national level, I was honored to be elected as a member of the Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi, where I worked towards the advancement of medical education across the country. In 2008, I was humbled to receive a national award from MCI during its Platinum Jubilee celebrations, in recognition of my contributions to the field.

I’ve also been actively involved in public health initiatives, particularly in tribal and underserved regions. My work on reducing maternal mortality in tribal areas was recognized internationally by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the Red Rose Foundation Canada, who awarded me a scholarship for this contribution.

My research interests lie in experimental neurophysiology, and over the years, I have developed instruments and models that have contributed to advancing the field. I have published more than ten national and international research papers on this subject.

As an author, I’ve written several books including Fundamental Human Neurophysiology, Ishtalinga Yoga (ಇಷ್ಟಲಿಂಗ ಯೋಗ), and Shri Basava Vijay (ಶ್ರೀ ಬಸವ ವಿಜಯ). I’ve also contributed to the 11th edition of the Textbook of Human Physiology by Guyton, one of the most widely used texts in medical education.

In addition to my scientific work, I am deeply involved in the study and dissemination of Basava Philosophy. I have conducted numerous demonstrations of Ishtalinga Pooja/Yoga, explaining its scientific basis and its positive effects on physical and mental health.

This website is a reflection of my life’s journey—an ongoing commitment to education, research, and the betterment of society. Thank you for visiting and taking an interest in my work.

Warm regards,
Dr. Amarnath Solepure
